Because of our asynchronous situation and physical distance, I thought it might be a good idea to create a blog where we can share information and write to one another. This is a tool I used in my classroom for years; it enables communication, and readers/writers participate at their convenience. Handy.
Right now, nobody knows about this blog except you and me, but it is public, so if you want to share the URL with anyone, please feel free. Only you and I can write or comment. but anyone can read.
We can share the URL in the future with the CPTP team as an artifact and evidence of our collaboration.
On Saturday, November 20, there's a Virtual Road to Teaching Conference, hosted by Santa Ana College, and shared with us by the CPTP team at Cerritos. If you can figure out any way to attend a couple of these workshops, it can do you nothing but good. I'll go with you, and I can attend either the same workshop and we can discuss what we learned, or we can double our presence and go to different ones and share back. What do you think??
When I'm sewing later this afternoon, I'm going to watch and listen to this 40 minute video about Black Boy Joy. I worry about Black men in our society -- I worry about their safety, their opportunities to make a contribution to their world, and their educational outcomes, which are lagging behind Black women by a substantial number. Buy why? Why does education hold such little promise or appeal?
